Two youths who were decorating Devi Pandal had a dispute with the CO for playing devotional songs at loud volume. The youth allege that the CO abused them and asked them to switch off the speaker. When he refused, the CO beat him. In protest against this, the Durga Puja committee kept the pandal dark till night and did not perform the puja.
Members of Nav Yuva Durga Puja Committee told that decorations were going on in the pandal on Friday evening. During this time devotional songs were also playing. CO Jaikaran Singh came with our companions and asked them to turn off the sound. Electrician Aleem Babu and worker Kishan Sahu said that permission has been taken. The song will be played in the pandal for nine days. It is alleged that on this the CO caught both of them and took them to the police station, where they were beaten up. On getting information, many workers reached the police station and started demanding action against the CO. Raising slogans, the youth switched off the electricity of the Devi pandal. Didn’t even worship.
Seeing the increasing tension, CO Jaikaran Singh and police station in-charge Vinod Rai Devi reached the pandal. After about three hours, it was agreed to continue the worship and decoration. The beaten youth alleged that when they were going to complain to the DM on Saturday on Total Solution Day, they were stopped by police personnel outside. There is a demand to take action against the CO. The CO has termed the allegation of assault as false.
